Risk Determination
A company in distress may already be suffering from untold
risks, or due to the distressed nature of the business, may be facing a
variety of risks. Likely both scenarios are true.
Risk determination involves not just identifying what is a risk, but
also quantifying it to determine how best - if at all - the risk should
be addressed. At Katzscan we help our clients determine the return
on investment on everything we do, including how risks are managed.
Risks can come from inside and outside the company, from employees,
customers, suppliers, competitors, and clunky computer systems.
Fraud is a risk, as is the failure to properly and securely backup data.
With our unique combination of skills and experiences, we help companies
- whether in distress or not - by determining where risks are
coming from and suggesting various solutions to prevent or mitigate the
risk, as well as operating plans for continuing through, working around,
and recovering from when disaster strikes.
The failure to perform proper risk determination is a risk
in-and-of-itself.
For public companies, the requirement to determine risk and create a
risk management plan is part of overall good governance as defined by
Sarbanes-Oxley. Private companies, however, can benefit from such
good governance guidance.
